Artio: An Interactive Plant Wall Experience
Role: Interactive Systems Designer
Duration: ~14 weeks
Skills: Addressable LEDs, Arduino, User testing, product creation
Overview
For our senior year capstone, myself and six of my classmates created a fictional company called “Artio” who produces interactive plant walls designed for corporate spaces, schools, hospitals, and anywhere else a little bit of “life” is needed.
As a team of developers and designers, we had to learn how to communicate with each other to make sure our ideas were cohesive and plausible. We learned new technologies and software, such as RIVE and webcam detection to bring our idea to life, while still getting to hone our previous skills of front-end, user interaction, and product design.
Our capstone culminated in a real life exhibition at Imagine RIT, a festival that brings around 20,000 people to Rochester, NY to explore the projects and research that RIT students are working on.
